ANTIQUE WW1 STONEBRIDGE TIN FOLDING CANDLE LANTERN, NEW YORK CITY FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: This period antique tin lantern is signed: The StoneBridge Automatic Folding Lantern. Pat'D Nov 27, 1900, Sep 29, 1903. May 24, 1904 Mar 28, 1905. Nov 20, 1906. Made in U.S.A. Manufactured by the StoneBridge Folding Lantern Co., New York City, N.Y. This antique candle lantern acutally folds up flat for easy traveling. This one may have been used in the trenches during World War One as it has most all it's original military Green Paint intact, with some wear, scratches and a tiny bit of rust. These were used in the trenches with a candle, which gave off a minimal amount of light, but did not give your position away. This lantern is made of tin with steel wire hardware and a brass hasp in the front for the wire latch to hold the lantern open. The three windows appear to be mica, I believe but am not sure. The three windows are in good condition with no major damage, just some flaking, scratches and crackling. Please view the photos of the windows closely, as they are also part of the description. This lantern folds up flat to about 7.5" long, by about 4.5" wide, and about 1" thick. When opened, it stands about 10" tall to the peak, and the handle stands about another 3.5" higher. The front is about 3 3/4" across, about 4 1/4" deep. This lantern is in good condition and does fold. The wire handle on the top is for carrying or hanging. There is a round hole on the backside for hanging on a nail. Don't miss out on this one for your Military Collection or Tin Lantern Collection. I have seen several of these, but none in this good condition, with most all the original military green paint. Please ask questions before you bid.
