Typical Art Nouveau design (Dutch/Flemish, Edwardian,Victorian) Theme: Soldiers with Swords and Shields. This beautiful used Dutch oil lamp is in perfect working condition. The oil burner is rusty but still perfectly working. Fabulous Art Nouveau bronze shipping oil lamp with six candle holders.These lamps were often used aboard ship and in Dutch it has the name "Schippertje" which means little ship. They are more compact then the oil lamps that were made for domestic use although these lamps were of course also for domestic use. The lamp is adjustable in height and can be shortened as well. It works with a perfectly balanced contra weight, so all you have to do is pull the lamp down or push it up. It will stay in any position you choose. The lamp has a lot of beautiful decorations. It has white opal shade, a porcelain oil can, a old brass burner and a glass chimney. All in all a true eye catcher that will look great aboard ship or in your home! Age circa 1880 These lamps came from a old pub in the Netherlands. These lamps look a bit dark. That is because of the smoke in the pub and because of the age. I didn`t want to clean it because a lot of people like the lamps without cleaning it. A rare and elegant bronze ceiling lamp from the European Colonial area. Easily adapted for use in a modern house by running an electrical wire from the ceiling and suspending it from beneath the weight. A normal globe can then be used to illuminate the shade.
