For sale one small black glass oil lamp with a holder on it. We are told the holder is for a ligher to light the lamp. The size of the holder could also hold a candle or perlhaps be used to store stick matches. The holder is also about the right size for a candle. The lamp measures approximately 7 1/2 inches tall with a 4 1/4 inches square base. The base is covered with a felt cloth. The holder measurements of the holder on the lamp are approximately 1 inch in diameter measured at the top outside of the rim and about 4 inches in length from the top of the rim to bottom point. The handle holder is also hollow. It is tapered and varies in diameter. The lamp does not have any breaks or cracks. The brass burner on top has a small cap on a chain which can sit on top and cover the wick when the lamp is not being used. This lamp was bought from an antique dealer about 25 years ago. The dealer told us he thought it might have been a whale oil lamp. Thank you for looking.
