DESCRIPTION: This auction is for a matching pair of fancy french 5 light candelabras that are a very wonderful height (without candles) of 29", with candles they stand over 36" (over 3 Feet tall!). They are estimated late 1800s to turn of century and feature beautiful white opaline glass flowers. Most definitely show stoppers and perfect for entry hallways, dining room sideboard, etc. The only marking I can find is under the inside of one of the bases marked "UH" in black. They are nice weight and are made of a combination of metals, best I can tell is brass, ormolu and gilt bronze. Each candelabra comprises of 3 glass opaline flowers, 5 floral candle holders (floral portion is the drip collars) (the candle cups and drip collars are each individually removeable for cleaning), 2 metal grape leaves, 1 metal floral and 2 grape clusters. Each of the glass flowers and the one brass center flower each have brass screw on center floral pistols to remove the flowers. The grape clusters and grape leaves each screw off as well as the metal flower and metal candleholders all screw off. Allover at random are attached gilt brass leaves while the bases are nice and thick featuring 3 scrolled feet each with nice designs (see pictures above). These are very clean and really are beautiful and perfect decor for your upcoming holidays and home decor. Candles are not included. Considering age these cleaned up fine and are in wonderful condition HOWEVER NOTED FOR ACCURACY: As noted in the 3rd from last photo above, one of the metal leaves is ripped on left edge but is structurally still fine and is in the area next to the stem and is the lower most center leaf of the candelabra and does not show until examined upside down. If carefully used this should never be an issue and is fine the way it is. On the right candelabra, lower right side opaline glass flower has been damaged toward the back rear end and has been repaired. Looks like someone used a white epoxy or something to fasten / mold it to the stem and is not too readily noticeable (see last two pictures above). The rest of the candlebras are fine. Also.. The underplates within the upper inside portion of the bases that are fasted with nuts have typical age oxidation rusty discoloration to the metal plates but is on the inside underide and does not show. When packing I will remove all the glass flowers except the one damage one which will be left on and individually wrapped. The rest of the metal portions, leaves, florals and clusters will be left on and not unscrew but carefully bubble wrapped.
