A recent estate sale find.....weighs a whopping 4 pounds plus and is solid brass. I suspect it was originally in a church and it looks to me like it may have held a type of oil lamp or possibly a candle, but the holder is pretty big, so I'm still thinking an oil lamp - also, please notice the prong sticking out for a soot catcher (I think) - just a guess - In good used vintage condition dimensions: 30" tall 6 1/4" wide at the cross projects 7" from the wall actual opening size of the holder is 2 5/8" but gets smaller inside to 2 1/4" the brass is 1/8" thick on the long part and appears to be thicker on the holder Please take a look at my other auctions for more lighting pieces.....thanks
